Product Composition

The Meningitis Vaccine is prepared from culture fluids of Neisseria meningitidis serogroups A, C, Y, and W135. The capsular polysaccharide antigens are extracted and purified separately, then mixed and lyophilized with lactose as a stabilizer. It is a white, porous substance that becomes a colorless, clear liquid after reconstitution with the provided diluent.

Active ingredients: Each dose of vaccine contains 50 μg each of capsular polysaccharides from serogroups A, C, Y, and W135.

Excipients: Each dose of vaccine contains 10.0 mg of lactose.

Vaccine diluent: Sterile, pyrogen-free phosphate-buffered saline (PBS).

The Importance of Vaccination

Meningococcal meningitis has a rapid onset and a high mortality rate.  The estimated case fatality rate for meningococcal meningitis is 5%–20%. Among the various pathogens that cause meningitis, Neisseria meningitidis (Nm) poses the highest risk of causing meningitis epidemics. 12%–20% of survivors experience serious sequelae such as paralysis, deafness, mental disorders, amputation, and epilepsy.

Susceptible populations (especially children, students, and migrant workers) need to be vaccinated promptly to establish an effective immune barrier.

Precautions for Use

Do not use the Meningitis Vaccine in the following cases:

1. Individuals with a known allergy to any component of this product.

2. Individuals with epilepsy, convulsions, brain diseases, or a history of allergies.

3. Patients with kidney disease, heart disease, active tuberculosis, HIV infection, or other acute illnesses.

4. Patients with severe chronic diseases or acute exacerbations of chronic diseases.

5. During any acute infection or febrile illness.

6. This product has not yet been tested for reproductive toxicity in pregnant women and experimental animals, and it is currently unknown whether it will affect the fetus. Therefore, pregnant women should not receive this vaccine, especially during the first three months of pregnancy.
